Baptism

The sacrament of baptism is received only once, as God's grace is given once and forever.

Baptism at Colchester Federated Church may be by any mode as may satisfy individual preference and conscience.

Infant/Child—In the baptism of an infant/child the parent(s) or guardian(s) and the congregation express both their own faith and their intent to encourage the child to grow into the knowledge of Christ. At baptism, a child is received into the worldwide body of Christ. Infant Baptism is open to members who so choose.

Believer's—Believer's Baptism is open to any person over the age of accountability who has not been previously baptized. It is the public acknowledgment that the believer receives Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior for themselves. At baptism, the person makes a public statement taking on the responsibilities and duties of a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ in their new life.

The Lord's Supper or Holy Communion

The invitation and call to the Lord's Supper celebrate the memory of a meal that is past and an actual meal with the risen Christ that is in anticipation of the heavenly banquet. It is an occasion to celebrate the sacrificial love of Christ and to rededicate our lives to God.

The visible breaking of the bread and the pouring of the wine/grape juice remind us that as participants we are one in the body of Christ.

All Christian believers are invited and welcomed at Christ's table, typically observed at the morning service on the first Sunday in the month.
